SGC Course Uploads

Publishing a new course/PDF to the website (Placeholder)

  1. Upload the PDF file to its proper location on the webserver

    shepherdsglobal.org/public_html/files/[language]

  2. Make sure the file is (re)named properly. (See this doc for file naming conventions)

  3. Log in to the app server and create a new course with the "Manual Course Wizard".

  4. Fill out the required fields.

    • Title: If it's a "script" language you'll probably need to find the source Word file (in "01 Language Folders" on the SGC OneDrive) to copy/paste the title from.
    • Description & Objectives & Introduction: Just type in "placeholder".
    • Language: Select the correct language from the list.
    • Master Course Code: type in the first few letters to search and select it.
    • Edition: Can be found on the copyright page. This needs to match the Edition # in the PDF filename.
    • ISBN: (optional) can be found on the copyright page of the course (many languages don't have them).
    • Price: 29 dollars.
    • Course Category: Refer to the English page to check which category the course should be in, and if necessary use Google Translate to find and select the correct category.
    • Images: Find the correct ones for Square and Wide in the uploads/1 Course Cover Images folder.
    • Website Link: Copy the link to that course from English and just modify it to point to the correct language.
    • Author: can be found on the copyright page of the PDF file.
    • Checkboxes: Check the boxes for "visible on the SGC Website" and "Placeholder" and leave the rest unchecked.
    • Finally, click on Next - Create Lessons.
  5. If there is an accompanying auxiliary file (Cover, Test Answers, etc) then on the next screen select the Auxiliary Files tab and add the details there.

    • Name: You can copy the relevant name from an existing course in that language from the Courses Map page. e.g. if it's Test Answers, find one on that page and copy the text. If there are none, in a pinch you can copy the subtitle from the Word doc for "Test Answers". (Use Google Translate to verify it, if in doubt).
    • Edition: Obviously this needs to match the edition # of the main text
    • FileCode: TA for Test Answers, CVR for Cover, etc.
    • Finally, click Save and back to save the placeholder course to the app database.
  6. Now you go back to the home admin page and click on the Normal Sync button to sync the new course to the website.

  7. Check the website to make sure the course shows up properly and the PDF file downloads successfully. If not, check the Sync Log and make sure your PDF file is properly named.
